KON-TIKI
Directed by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning
(Nordisk Film/The Weinstein Company)
I was the Production Visual Effects & Animation Supervisor on the Academy Awards® and Golden Globe® nominated Norwegian movie "Kon-Tiki", directed by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning. I managed, supervised and was responsible for all the digital visual effects and creature/animal animations made by the five Scandinavian studios Fido, Gimpville, Important Looking Pirates, Storm Studios and Blink Studios, who worked on a total of 500+ shots. Including crabs, birds, fish, whale sharks, white sharks, deep sea creatures and a lot of complex water simulations. Storyline Studios, ShortCut and California Post handled the online cleanup work.
"Kon-Tiki" is the true story about the legendary explorer Thor Heyerdahl and his crew on their epic crossing of the Pacific on a balsa wood raft in 1947. The movie broke the box office records in Norway when it was released in August 2012, and was released worldwide by The Weinstein Company. The movie received the Amanda Award (Norwegian Academy Awards) in 2013 for Best Visual Effects.
