THE 12TH MAN
Directed by Harald Zwart
(Motion Blur Film/Nordisk Film/IFC Midnight)
I was the Production Visual Effects Supervisor on the epic WWII action-drama "The 12th Man", directed by Harald Zwart, featuring Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Thomas Gullestad. I managed and supervised all the digital visual effects, made by studios Gimpville, Storm Studios, Varg Studios and Rune Spaans. The CG work spanned from creating airplanes, ships and matte paintings, to cut away toes and avalanches. But all the reindeer are real and in-camera! All 1000 of them!
"The 12th Man" is the true story about the Norwegian resistance fighter Jan Baalsrud who was on the run from the Gestapo during WWII in the freezing wilderness for several months. The movie was a box office hit when it was released in Norway in December 2017 and has been released worldwide.
THE 12TH MAN INTERNATIONAL TRAILER
This breathtaking action adventure tells an incredible true-life story of heroism and a man’s unbreakable will to live. Norway, 1943: After a failed anti-Nazi sabotage mission leaves his eleven comrades dead, Norwegian resistance fighter Jan Baalsrud (Thomas Gullestad) finds himself on the run from the Gestapo through the snowbound Arctic reaches of northern Norway. It’s a harrowing journey across unforgiving, frozen wilderness that will stretch on for months—and force Jan to take extreme action in order to survive. With gut-punching realism and vivid psychological immediacy, director Harold Zwart pays tribute to one man’s extraordinary courage—and to the everyday heroes who helped him along the way. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers costars as German Officer Kurt Stage. Copyright © 2017 Motion Blur Film/Nordisk Film/IFC Midnight. All rights reserved.
